Great value for the money, and perfectly suited to warding off rain in moderate temps (45-65F). Wouldn't work against the cold without an underlayer, so buy a size large enough that you can wear a sweater or hoodie underneath if you want this for snow or ice.I've owned a Quick Duck coat for a few years now and while it works great in the cold it's not ideal for continuous rainfall and warmer temps (you work up a sweat and rain soaks through gradually). This Shoreline jacket so far has been TOTALLY WATERTIGHT and I'm very pleased with it!Only issues I have with the jacket are:-the hood draw string locks don't lock-the sleeves have a silly looking extension to cover the tops of your hands, I folded them back over themselves to get them out of the way and it seems to work fine. Maybe in gale force rain and wind these would be useful, but for me it just looks sort of WTF...I love the clean, crisp look of the jacket & Carhartt makes quality, durable products. Would I wear this on a hot (80-90 deg.) rainy day? It depends. The jacket does breathe well & will keep you dry but it is a bit heavy for a hot rainy day. It would be better in the spring, fall & even winter (depending on your base layer). If you're looking for a summer jacket Carhartt sells lighter jackets for that. Right now this is my only waterproof jacket so if a hot rainy day comes by I will wear it because it breathes well. This jacket is something I would wear out to dinner. I get hot easy so it might be different for someone else. The bottom line is I will wear this jacket until it is too cold; I'm pretty sure I could wear it over thermals in the winter. Haven't tried yet. Right now it's 60-70 in Philadelphia & I am comfortable wearing it.Great jacket. This one replaced one I've had for 12 years. The lining in the sleeves can sometimes bunch up at the bottom. This is a great jacket if you are looking for something that is truly waterproof. I have had a lot of weather resistant jackets that soak through after 10-60 minutes of being outside. This jacket is in the style of an outer shell so if you need to stay warm you should wear another layer underneath. This will keep you dry whether you are walking the dog, working outside all day or just live in Seattle.Runs large which is a problem as the large collar at the top scrapes your face and nexk.I find this jacket to be very effective thus far. It is cut very full and accomodates insulation layers with ease for winter weather. Don't oversize however, I'm 210 lbs with 47" chest and Large Regular fits like Extra Large. Everyone who sees it is curious.Very comfortable and definitely waterproof. The hood is great and is detachable. All pockets are zippered and waterproof sealed. The jacket does run a bit large (I can easily wear a hoody under it with plenty of room)I got this jacket for my husband for Christmas. He started wearing it a lot during the rain and windy conditions we have had this Spring in Maryland and he has commented several times about how comfortable it is.
