So im in need of a coat. Of course when you are a big dude your options can be slim pickins. On top of that, size can really be screwy on anything in the 5 to 6xl range. I can tell you this from experience on having a coat in the past not being true to size EVEN though something is labelled as 6X and fitting like a 4X!The biggest issue with fit for a big man is price. You dont get the luxury of being able to walk into any shop and pull a shirt or a coat or pants off the rack and spending some pocket change. No, them materials cost money and us big fellas need more materials to fit us! I get it! Economics. However, there are a few outfits (i.e. Kingsize or DXL) that do cater to the big. Again, it can come down to price; one company can offer better quality for more dollars and the other can offer better savings for slightly less quality/feel. There are some trade offs here and there. So, to the jacket. Im a big guy. 5xl but I like my jackets a size higher for room and layering because i live in Minnesota and it was sub zero last week. A whole week straight. My old reliable jacket decided it needed to be taken out of service and mended...i am in need of a new jacket now. The first thing I wanted was the pockets/storage. I need a place for a big warm wooly hat to cover my pumpkin head. I need a place for my mittens because putting them in the unsecured pockets runs the risk of me losing a mitten. Losing a good mitten sucks! Plus, I need a scarf to cover my neck (because of that part where it was sub zero the whole week) and i need a pocket for that. The next thing is price; you could go for a brand name (i.e Columbia) and pay brand prices with no guarantee of durability and definately less storage. That can be a 200 dollar investment. Which one could argue its more of an investment and yes, if I found myself using the jacket for Skiing and Snowboarding I completely agree. However, not really looking to spend that kind of money right now so we finally come to trying out the Kingsize brand and seeing if they can make a decent jacket that gets the job done for a good price.Getting this jacket a few days ago, I can tell you I enjoy the amount of storage this thing brings to the table. Literally, i could go to the movie theater and smuggle in enough candy and soda to fuel a small army and save TONS in consession prices. Just saying, i dont really go to the movies anymore but just letting you know, the pocket room is insane.Fit: So I can tell you a 6XL big runs pretty in line with an honest 6XL. Remember, i had another jacket, on a completely different subject, that read 6XL but didnt fit like one! Which makes me happy because i hate having to return crap and losing a piece of my refund to re-ship it back.Warmth: So it is still sub zero out here in Minnesota, and with the jacket zipped up and with reasonable clothing on (not like you're wearing a tank top or something you shouldn't really be wearing under a winter coat anyway) I found that the jacket, in these few days, has held up, but is in need of more review (i.e. blowing wind/snowstorm/polar vortex) which comes to the next thing...Build quality: So in the picture on Amazon here (I own the Burgundy one) this coat looks pretty darn cozy and a decent weight to it. Like on par with a thick hoodie, but in real life I found this jacket to be somewhat lighter weight than what I had hoped. Because its the cold man, you pay for a coat to take care of you and keep you warm! Not that I have found this to be a huge issue as of yet. But maybe a thicker quilting or a down filling would've been a better play here and given better peace of mind in this purchase.Hood: The removeable hood shouldnt be removeable. I think it would be better without it being removeable. Some of the velcro on the hood to wrap around your mouth/chin area could be secured better until absolutely needed...i caught my wool hat on velcro many times already in a few days as I found the flaps slapping me in face/eyes. While driving made it a bit difficult to check blindspots and backing my car up without a flap getting in the way. Just a bit silly.Durability: So as of right now i am keeping my star rating 3 out of 5 because simply, I dunno if this will be a jacket that lasts. It sounds like im wearing a giant blue tarp; that crunchiness just makes it sound cheaply made. Now I know people would argue that its nitpicking, but when that cold weather comes blowing through, i need a coat to protect me from the elements without ripping....and my biggest fear at this point is hearing that coat get caught on somthing and tear open like a sharp scissors cutting paper. I. Can't. Have. That.ITS PERFECT FOR COLD WEATHER THIS WINTERPerfect!I purchased the Expedition Parka Coat (olive) and I think it is a good-looking coat. Seems well-made. Snappable flap covering the zipper is nice. Snappable pockets are good, and the small vest pocket is nice. Velcro around the wrists works fine. Bottom of the coat cannot be cinched up, but there is a snap at the bottom. The lining is extremely soft, and it is very comfortable wearing this coat. Very easy to move around while wearing it too.I’m a lanky 6’5” and the X-Large Tall fit perfectly in terms of overall size, overall length and sleeve length.I wear 17.5-18 collar and I could not zip this coat up all the way to my chin, nor could I Velcro shut the neck flap-- way too tight around the neck for that. The neck flap still covers the majority of the neck--there is just a gap in the very front. The hood did fit over my head, however unless I am missing something, the tightening mechanism doesn’t seem to be locking in place after cinching it up. I believe the cinch should only slide if its button is pressed in, but it slides without having to press the button. So the hood might not stay in place in extremely windy conditions. May have to use a balaclava and a hat for head and neck protection under extreme conditions. It has a nice lining that seems to provide good warmth. However, those of us in Michigan and Wisconsin and the like will consider this to be a light winter jacket. It is not very thick. If you go out to snowblow the driveway in 5 degree temps with 20mph winds I feel pretty certain you will want multiple layers-- including a thick sweatshirt-- underneath this coat. With the way this fits me I think there is enough room that, but you may want to consider ordering a size up to be safe...So this is a very nice winter coat for mild conditions. I’ll have to see once how it handles extreme conditions with the addition of a sweatshirt and a balaclava. And see how it handles wear and tear over time. But overall I like it, especially the look and comfort of it.I got it for the winter and it still fits me today I wore it so many times very warm very comfortable and it's big so you can be a turtle and just go inside your jacket lolI like this parka. It is very warm and comfortable. I love all the pockets and enclosures. However, the exterior fabric makes a lot of rustling noise. Halfway between a opening a plastic garbage bag and a potato chip bag. It is on the edge of annoying for me.However, it was the end of the winter season, no one had winter coats in stock and my current coat got a huge tear in it. I will wear it for a few years, but will be very careful in the future what I buy.I ordered an 8XL for my son who usually wears 5XL as I wanted him to have room for sweaters etc. In reality, this coat is more like a 6XL. It is also thinner than I expected, though he says it is warm. Delivery was pretty good, it took about 3 weeks to get here. The fit is very good for a larger and taller man - the price should reflect the fact that it is not a warm winter jacket. If the jacket cost less and you need a fall jacket - this would be a good choice. The seller was good about refunding my money.Manteau idéal pour des températures hivernales pas trop froides.Fit so good.. very pleased2 with the length! The product was of good quality but just too large.
